Follow in the footsteps of the ski stars

Hermann Maier Worldcup race course

Marlies Raich, Frida Hansdotter, Veronika Velez Zuzulova, Maria Höfl-Riesch – all of these ski stars raced to victory on the Hermann Maier World Cup racetrack. You would like to walk in their shoes and feel the racing fever as well? You’d love to make the racetrack your own, feeling the scrunching snow beneath your skis?

Then the Hermann Maier World Cup racetrack in Flachau is the perfect slope for you and will make your Salzburg winter holiday unique! It’s no big surprise that in 2003, the slope was named after Hermann Maier. After all, the multiple-times World and Olympic Champion is a born-and-bred Flachau local. Feel the racing fever on the 600-metre slope at the heart of Snow Space Salzburg ski resort, which is part of Ski amadé, Austria’s biggest skiing paradise.

Hermann Maier’s piste tip

Once every year, the slope turns into a stage for the big ski racing stars as the Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup women’s night slalom turns the heat up in Flachau. However, for the rest of the year, the slope belongs to all skiers and snowboarders willing to feel the race fever themselves.

Of course, skiing legend Hermann Maier has his own special inside tip for all athletes about to master the racetrack with a 200-metre difference in altitude:

Ski racer is on the move on the World Cup course

“This piste is really varied. It starts off quite challenging and continues with a bit of a flatter section, allowing you to do great turns. If you do the run from start to finish down in the valley, your burning thighs will give you a good hint of how the World Cup racers feel during the race. The most important thing is: safety first! And the rest? Having fun!“
