Active vacation in winter

Ski touring in Snow Space Salzburg

Feeling nature and discovering the mountains on a ski tour is a special experience. That is why we are making the ski tour at monte popolo in Eben and the associated slope exclusively available daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. until (presumably) January 30th, 2021 to all ski tourers in Snow Space Salzburg.

Due to the high number of guests, the Rote 8er gondola lift has been opened to our ski guests since December 30, 2020. So please stick to the official ski tour on the Rote 8er - which was marked by us and is accessible from January 6th, 2021. In addition, the ski tour on monte popolo in Eben is still exclusively available to tourers. Thank you very much for your understanding!

If the snow conditions allow, the official ski touring routes in St. Johann - Alpendorf, in St. Johann - Hahnbaum will open.

It is important to obey to the necessary safety rules and only get up along the marked routes. We ask for your understanding that ski touring is not permitted on any of the other slopes / touring routes in Snow Space Salzburg for safety reasons.

There is a free parking space on site.

Touring routes

The touring routes at Rote 8er in Wagrain and on monte popolo in Eben cover all needs, regardless of whether you are a beginner or advanced.

Safety when ski touring on the slopes

You enter the touring routes and pistes on your own responsability. The use of snow groomers - especially with cable winches - and alpine hazards can lead to life-threatening situations. Emergency equipment must be carried.

Entering is at your own risk, we accept no liability for accidents!

We would also like to point out that there are currently no piste rescue services in the entire monte popolo ski area in Eben and therefore the rescue chain is not in place until further notice.

In order to avoid accidents, we ask you to observe the following recommendations in addition to the FIS rules of conduct:

  • Observe warning notices and local regulations.
  • The closure of a piste or part of a piste must be obeyed. The use of snow groomers - especially with cable winches - or avalanche blastings, etc. can lead to life-threatening situations. For safety reasons, pistes can therefore be closed for the duration of the work.
  • Only use the designated ski touring routes on the Rote 8er in Wagrain & on the monte popolo in Eben and the associated pistes.
  • Only ascent at the edge of the piste and one behind the other.
  • Cross the piste only in clear places and with sufficient distance to each other.
  • Only ski on freshly groomed pistes in the peripheral area. Tracks frozen in overnight can seriously impair the quality of the pistes.
  • From 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m., you can ski touring along the designated ski touring routes on the Rote 8er in Wagrain and on the monte popolo in Eben on your own responsability and at your own risk.
  • Leave the pistes by 5 p.m. Piste closure on the Rote 8er in Wagrain & on monte popolo in Eben from 6 p.m. to 8.30 a.m.
  • Make yourself visible. Use a headlamp, reflective clothing, etc. in the dark or in poor visibility.
  • Do not take dogs with you on the pistes.
  • Use designated parking spaces and pay any parking fees occuring.
