Ski touring in Snow Space Salzburg

Feeling nature and discovering the mountains on a ski tour is a special experience. There five marked routes in the Snow Space Salzburg in Wagrain and St. Johann-Alpendorf. Our partner ski area monte popolo in Eben also has a designated ski tour.

Ski touring routes along the slopes

Whether for beginners or enthusiastic and experienced ski tourers, Snow Space Salzburg is the ideal starting point for a pleasure tour up the mountain. It is important to observe the necessary safety rules and only ascent along the marked routes. We ask for your understanding that ski touring is not permitted on any of the other slopes in Snow Space Salzburg for safety reasons.

Safety rules when ski touring on the slopes

You enter the touring routes and pistes on your own responsability. The use of snow groomers - especially with cable winches - and alpine hazards can lead to life-threatening situations. Emergency equipment must be carried.

Entering is at your own risk, we accept no liability for accidents!

We would also like to point out that there are currently no piste rescue services in the entire monte popolo ski area in Eben and therefore the rescue chain is not in place until further notice.

In order to avoid accidents, we ask you to observe the following recommendations in addition to the FIS rules of conduct:

  • Observe warning notices and local regulations.
  • The closure of a piste or part of a piste must be obeyed. The use of snow groomers - especially with cable winches - or avalanche blastings, etc. can lead to life-threatening situations. For safety reasons, pistes can therefore be closed for the duration of the work.
  • Only use the designated ski touring routes.
  • Only ascent at the edge of the piste and one behind the other.
  • Cross the piste only in clear places and with sufficient distance to each other.
  • Only ski on freshly groomed pistes in the peripheral area. Tracks frozen in overnight can seriously impair the quality of the pistes.
  • From 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m., you can go ski touring along the designated ski touring routes on your own responsability and at your own risk.
  • Leave the pistes by 5 p.m. Piste closure is from 6 p.m. to 8.30 a.m.
  • Make yourself visible. Use a headlamp, reflective clothing, etc. in the dark or in poor visibility.
  • Do not take dogs with you on the pistes.
  • Use designated parking spaces and pay any parking fees occuring.

Going ski tours for a good purpose

In the Snow Space Salzburg ski area, ski tourers can choose from five different ascent routes. At monte popolo in Eben, there is another marked touring route. The touring routes are free of charge, but you can leave a voluntary donation if you wish.

All donations will be forwarded directly to Caritas Salzburg and benefit people and charity projects in our region.
