Active vacation in winter

Ski touring in the Snow Space Salzburg

Feeling nature and discovering the mountains on a ski tour is a special experience. There are three marked routes in the Snow Space Salzburg in Wagrain and St. Johann-Alpendorf. Our partner ski area monte popolo in Eben also has a designated ski tour.

Ski touring routes along the slopes

Whether for beginners or enthusiastic and experienced ski tourers, Snow Space Salzburg is the ideal starting point for a pleasure tour up the mountain. It is important to observe the necessary safety rules and only climb along the marked routes. We ask for your understanding that ski touring is not permitted on any of the other slopes in Snow Space Salzburg for safety reasons.

Safety when ski touring on the slopes

You are also independent on the slopes. Alpine dangers, in particular the avalanche danger must be assessed by yourself. Emergency equipment must be carried. Ski slopes are primarily available to users of the cable cars and lifts. About accidents and to avoid conflicts, we ask you to follow the FIS rules of conduct as well.

Recommendations to be followed:

  • Observe warning notices and local regulations.
  • Obey the closure of a piste or part of a piste. The use of piste equipment - especially with cable winches - or avalanches, etc. can lead to life-threatening situations. For safety reasons, pistes can therefore be closed for the duration of the work.
  • Only climb on the edge of the piste and one behind the other.
  • Cross the piste only in clear places and with sufficient distance to each other.
  • Only ride on freshly groomed pistes in the peripheral area. Tracks frozen in overnight can seriously impair the quality of the slopes.
  • Leave the pistes by 6 or 7 p.m. Pistes closed in Wagrain (Rote 8er) from 6 p.m. to 8.30 a.m., in St. Johann-Alpendorf (valley run) from 7 p.m. to 8.30 a.m. The ski touring routes on Hahnbaum in St. Johann are available indefinitely.
  • Make yourself visible: Use a headlamp, reflective clothing, etc. in the dark or in poor visibility.
  • Only use routes / pistes specially dedicated to this purpose.
  • Do not take dogs with you on the pistes.
  • Use designated parking spaces and pay parking fees if necessary.
