Services included in the ski pass

The mountain railways invest heavily in snowmaking and grooming for the first-class slopes in Snow Space
Salzburg. Unlike in the free skiing area, the
mountain railways pay an annual ground rent to the owners for the use of the slope areas.

  • On-call service for ski patrol

In Snow Space Salzburg, a ski patrol team with an emergency paramedic is on standby on all three mountains during
ski slope opening hours.

  • Infrastructure on the mountain

The toilet facilities at the cable car stations
are available to all winter sports enthusiasts.

  • Use of parking areas

The mountain railways provide sufficient parking spaces at the valley stationsand ensure that snow is cleared daily.

  • Ski bus network in the surrounding towns

The ski touring ticket entitles you to use the extensive ski bus network in the region. Tip: The ascent route in Alpendorf/St. Johann is particularly easy to reach by public transport.

Equipment tip:

Don't have any ski touring equipment yet? Right next to the valley station of the Rote 8er, there is a ski touring test center where you can rent the equipment you need.

Safety rules when ski touring on the slopes

You enter the touring routes and pistes on your own responsability. The use of snow groomers - especially with cable winches - and alpine hazards can lead to life-threatening situations. Emergency equipment must be carried.

Entering is at your own risk, we accept no liability for accidents!

We would also like to point out that there are currently no piste rescue services in the entire monte popolo ski area in Eben and therefore the rescue chain is not in place until further notice.

In order to avoid accidents, we ask you to observe the following recommendations in addition to the FIS rules of conduct:

  • Observe warning notices and local regulations.
  • The closure of a piste or part of a piste must be obeyed. The use of snow groomers - especially with cable winches - or avalanche blastings, etc. can lead to life-threatening situations. For safety reasons, pistes can therefore be closed for the duration of the work.
  • Only use the designated ski touring routes.
  • Only ascent at the edge of the piste and one behind the other.
  • Cross the piste only in clear places and with sufficient distance to each other.
  • Only ski on freshly groomed pistes in the peripheral area. Tracks frozen in overnight can seriously impair the quality of the pistes.
  • From 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m., you can go ski touring along the designated ski touring routes on your own responsability and at your own risk.
  • Leave the pistes by 5 p.m. Piste closure is from 6 p.m. to 8.30 a.m.
  • Make yourself visible. Use a headlamp, reflective clothing, etc. in the dark or in poor visibility.
  • Do not take dogs with you on the pistes.
  • Use designated parking spaces and pay any parking fees occuring.
