Two amazing ski mountaineering trails

There are two beautiful trails to explore Hahnbaum mountain in St. Johann im Pongau with your touring skis,

one in the village centre, right at the former valley station of the chairlift (with about 500 metres difference in altitude),

the other a bit further up the mountain at Hetzenbichl platter lift. There is plenty of parking space around there and the platter lift is free!

The starting point at Hetzenbichl is particularly suited for beginners as the first, very steep climb, is already behind you.

From the platter lift, a moderate ascent takes you up to the mountain station of the platter lift. From there, the “Zachalegg” ski mountaineering trail diverts to the same arrival point.

If you stay on this trail, a 400-metre flat passage will give you enough time to get ready for the next steeper section. At the hight of the mountains station of the drag lift, turn right and continue through the woods up to a path winding its way up a steeper section.

After this climb, continue along the prepared trail to a long, flat turn leading you to the finish point.
