Even more skiing fun in one day
Panorama Link connection lift
The Panorama Link cable car in the heart of the Salzburg mountains makes the winter sports resorts of Flachau / Wagrain and Flachauwinkl / Kleinarl one of the largest and most diverse winter sports regions in Europe. Nothing stands in the way of your unforgettable Salzburg winter holiday thanks to the merger of the three ski areas Snow Space Salzburg, Skiparadies Zauchensee/Flachauwinkl and Shuttleberg.
Skiing from A-Z has been possible since the season 2020/21, i.e. from Alpendorf to Zauchensee.
At Snow Space Salzburg you can look forward to incredible snow conditions, perfectly groomed slopes and the most modern mountain lifts with technological highlights such as the first G-Link reversible aerial tramway in Europe. Follow in the footsteps of Salzburg ski superstar Hermann Maier and discover numerous adventure and family attractions located close to three winter sports resorts of Flachau, Wagrain and St. Johann. There is something for everyone.
In addition to its extremely reliable snowfall each year, the World Cup resort Zauchensee/Flachauwinkl draws attention for its unique variety of slopes and countless freeride opportunities. Freestylers looking for an athletic challenge will find that and more on the Shuttleberg in Flachauwinkl/Kleinarl. You love challenges? Then Europe's largest snow park, the Absolut Park Flachauwinkl, is exactly what you are looking for. It has a lot to offer for both beginners and pros.
And the best part: With the new Panorama Link connection lift, you can enjoy the full variety of features of all three ski areas - with their combined total of over 210 kilometers of slopes – in a single day of skiing and with just one lift ticket.
You travel between the towns of Wagrain and Kleinarl while enjoying the amazing panorama of the Hohe and Niedere Tauern mountain ranges. The route of the 3.1 km long lift takes you from the mountain stations on the Grießenkareck over the ridges to the mountain station of Flachauwinkl-Kleinarl. The new 10-seat gondola lift will be built and operated by Snow Space Salzburg Bergbahnen AG together with Shuttleberg GmbH & Co. KG.
Construction diary
We have summarized all the important stages of the construction of the Panorama Link cable car for you.
The first test rides with the new Panorama-Link could already be made in mid-September. Then, on October 1st, the management of Snow Space Salzburg and Shuttlberg Flachauwinkl-Kleinarl started their first test ride together in an uncovered gondola cabin. During the journey from Grießenkar to Mooskopf, they could already enjoy the unique mountain panorama of the snow-covered Pongau mountains.

In September 2020, the gondola cabins for the Panorama-Link were delivered by truck to the mountain station at Shuttleberg Flachauwinkl-Kleinarl, as the Panorama-Link gondola station is located there. There the gondola cabins are going to be fully assembled and attached to the suspension cable.

On August 21st, the circulating rope for the new Panorama-Link was delivered. To turn this steel rope with two ends into a circulating rope "without an end", there is a certain technique called "rope splicing". The steel cable consists of 6 twisted, thinner steel cables (the so-called strands). The beginning and the end of each strand are spliced into the wire rope netting, as the professionals say. These splices are always offset by approx. 10 meters so that there is no weak point in the rope. On the 1st + 2nd of September, the splicing work took place at the Panorama-Link mountain station on the Shuttleberg Flachauwinkl-Kleinarl.

On July 21, 2020, the supporting towers for the new Panorama-Link cable car were installed by helicopter from the Shuttleberg side. The more easily accessible supporting towers were set up with the help of a crane.

In May 2020, the dry construction of the mountain station on the Shuttleberg side could be started, a bit delayed due to the Corona crisis. In June, construction on the valley station on the Snow Space Salzburg side began as well. The foundations of both stations were already completed last year.
On September 3, 2019, the celebratory presentation of the milestone project "Flying Mozart & Panorama Link" took place in the course of the groundbreaking ceremony at the middle station of the Flying Mozart.
